The Kyoto Miyako Distillery is the first distillery opened in Kyoto Prefecture, located 50 kilometers northwest of the city, in an untouched and sparsely inhabited area traversed by the Yura River, known for the purity of its waters.
Famous for its whiskies, the distillery has also created a gin (The Kyoto Gin) through expert distillation of 8 perfectly balanced botanicals (juniper berries, coriander seeds, yuzu peel, orange peel, Sichuan pepper, black pepper, cinnamon, and matcha), resulting in an excellent product with a balanced aromatic profile.
A unique feature of this gin is its label, which is made of fabric, reminiscent of the Japanese art of nishijin-ori: a typical fabric dating back to 1200 years ago, still used today to make the finest traditional garments.
On the nose, it offers a fresh and vibrant aroma that opens with delicate citrus (yuzu and orange) and herbal (coriander) notes. On the palate, it is balsamic and citrusy with a delicately spicy aftertaste of black pepper. The refreshing notes of yuzu bring a slight touch of acidity, while the matcha infuses a subtle earthy depth.
